Reagan Suubi

  • College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Chair
Reagan Suubi is a Ph.D. student in Agricultural Education at Iowa State University, a Borel Global Fellow, and a graduate student in the Youth Development Specialist Certificate program. Originally from Uganda, he earned his Bachelor of Agribusiness Management from Makerere University before completing his Master of Science in Agricultural Education at Iowa State University.

Suubi’s research focuses on understanding and strengthening youth engagement in agriculture, with particular attention to agricultural communication and agripreneurship. His work has examined how young people access, interpret, and use agricultural information and how communication systems can better support their participation in agricultural enterprises. Beyond his primary research, his experiences have spanned agricultural communication, micro-credentials and workforce readiness, small-scale agriculture and experiential learning research in both Uganda and the United States.

Service and leadership are central to Suubi’s graduate experience. At Iowa State, he has served as President of the Graduate Organization in Agricultural Education and Studies (Go-AGEDS) and Vice President of the International Association of Students in Agriculture and Related Studies (IAAS), contributing to initiatives that promote graduate student development, international engagement, and stronger academic communities. His commitment to agriculture also extends beyond academia. As a co-founder of Nostalgic Coffee, Suubi brings an entrepreneurial perspective shaped by firsthand experience across the agricultural value chain and a commitment to connecting agriculture with community development.

As the GPSS College Chair for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Suubi is committed to ensuring that graduate students across CALS have a meaningful voice in the broader university community. He hopes to foster stronger connections among students, departments, college leadership, and GPSS; elevate the diverse perspectives and experiences represented throughout CALS; and contribute to a graduate student community in which students feel heard, connected, and empowered to participate.

At the heart of Suubi’s work is a belief in the power of education, agripreneurship, and meaningful human connections to create opportunities and strengthen communities. Beyond his academic and professional pursuits, Suubi enjoys traveling, volunteering, cooking, and connecting with people and communities from different backgrounds.
