Bibhas is a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University (ISU), specializing in computational fluid dynamics and transport phenomena in biological systems. His doctoral research uses mathematical modeling and numerical simulations to investigate fluid transport, bacterial dynamics, and reaction–advection–diffusion processes in the gastrointestinal tract.
Bibhas is passionate about graduate student representation and fostering an inclusive and supportive academic environment. He has represented the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) and served on the GPSS Rules Committee. He currently serves as the GPSS IDEA Officer and also served concurrently as Interim Vice President during the summer. In addition, Bibhas is the President of iFam, a student organization that engages international students through weekly social and community-building events. He has also contributed to the broader scientific community through conference presentations and by serving as a session chair at the American Physical Society Division of Fluid Dynamics meeting.
Through these roles, Bibhas is committed to advancing equitable representation, improving access to student resources, and creating a welcoming environment for graduate, professional, and international students. Beyond academics and student leadership, he has a strong interest in social justice, sociopolitical issues, and theology.
