Sourav Das is a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University, where his research focuses on lithium-ion batteries, particularly in the areas of physics-informed digital twin development, failure diagnostics, and sustainable recycling strategies. His interdisciplinary work integrates multiscale modeling, deep learning and material characterization to support the development of next-generation energy storage technologies.
In addition to his academic endeavors, Sourav is actively involved in graduate student governance. He previously served as a Senator in the Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) during the 2024–2025 academic year and currently holds the position of Student Engagement Officer for the 2025–2026 term. In this capacity, he is dedicated to strengthening graduate student participation, facilitating interdepartmental collaboration, and effectively representing student perspectives within the university’s administrative framework.
Sourav’s broader interests include promoting interdisciplinary research, supporting student-driven initiatives, and contributing to the development of strong academic communities. Beyond his academic commitments, he enjoys exploring emerging technologies, engaging in community service, hiking, and playing racket sports.
