Hanif Lashari is a 3rd-year Ph.D. candidate in Computer Engineering at Iowa State University (ISU), with a research focus on low-latency communication protocols and predictive modeling for Tactile Internet applications, particularly in remote robotic surgery. Originally from Pakistan, Hanif brings a deep passion for applied machine learning, real-time systems, and network optimization to his academic work.
In addition to his research, Hanif is an active advocate for graduate student engagement and community building. He served as a Senator for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (2024–25) and currently holds the role of Treasurer for the Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) for the 2025–26 academic year. His leadership experience also includes serving as a member (2022–23) and later New Student Coordinator (2023–24) for the Pakistani Students Association (PSA), where he worked to support incoming international students and foster cultural connection.
Committed to both technical excellence and student support, Hanif continues to promote financial transparency, inclusive programming, and professional development opportunities through his work with GPSS. Outside of academia, he enjoys meaningful conversations, exploring tech innovations, and enjoys playing cricket.
