Sourav Das (he/him) is a 3rd-year Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University, holding a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, India. With four years of industry experience, Sourav applies practical engineering insights to drive innovative academic research, bridging the gap between real-world challenges and advanced solutions.. His doctoral work focuses on the modeling, characterization, and recycling of lithium-ion batteries, aiming to improve efficiency and sustainability in energy storage for the rapidly growing transportation sector. Alongside his research, Sourav serves as a senator in the Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) representing Mechanical Engineering and is actively involved in the GPSS Conference Committee and the Mechanical Engineering Graduate Student Organization (MEGSO), contributing to initiatives that promote collaboration and innovation among graduate students. Passionate about exploration, Sourav enjoys traveling, trying new cuisines, watching movies, and playing badminton and tennis in his free time.
